A Fall Collage: Colorful Songs - Fall Concert 2014

  • Faith Lutheran Church 667 East First Ave Chico, CA, 95926 United States (map)

Children’s Choir of Chico opens its 14th concert season with a musical collage showcasing its choirs performing songs that express feelings of joy, longing, fun, and celebration.

This afternoon concert will begin with a performance of “The Star Spangled Banner” and a tribute to Francis Scott Key, as our nation celebrates the 200th birthday of his penning of these now famous lyrics.  American folksongs will delight the audience as singers perform in much the same manner as would have happened in the 1800’s, complete with folk dance moves.   Selections composed by Gabriel Fauré and Peter Cornelius will bring a depth of artistic performance to listeners.  Rousing gospels and Broadway musical selections will create a light, family-friendly afternoon.

Choirs

Come prepared to enjoy a pleasing blend of voices from the youngest singers in the training choirs - “Ready, Set, Sing!” (pre-K, K & 1st grade) and the “Preparatory Choir” (2nd & 3rd grades), to the more developed voices and advanced repertoire of the touring choirs - “Cantiamo”,  “Bel Canto”, and the CCOC women’s choir “Bella Voce”. Singers include residents of Chico, Durham, Paradise, Oroville, Forrest Ranch, Orland, Berry Creek, and Bangor.
