New Singers Welcome

It’s time to sing again! The various choirs of the Children’s Choir of Chico invite new members to come to rehearsals to join in the fun for the the new year. The Children’s Choir of Chico is a choral music education organization dedicated to shaping the future by making a difference in the lives of children, youth and women through musical excellence and great music. The choirs sing a variety of music including gospels, great art music, Broadway tunes, contemporary art music, and songs from around the world. 

SPRING 2024 Choir Offerings

Ready, Set, Sing!

Kindergarten & 1st Graders
Meets: Tuesdays 3:30–4:15
Tuition: $55.00/month
Annual Registration Fee: $25.00

Moving, playing and singing – the perfect way for our youngest singers to learn! Our lively music classes will enable children to find their singing voice and experience the basic elements of music through their best learning medium – play! These active music makers will have a number of opportunities to perform locally and with the other Choirs during the year.

Preparatory Choir

Preparatory Choir Levels I & II (Grades 2 & 3)
Meets: Tuesdays 4:30-5:30
Tuition: $60.00/month
Annual Registration Fee: $25

This music experience is designed for active 2nd and 3rd graders. These students play their way to tuneful singing, beautiful music, and music literacy through age-appropriate folk songs, singing games, and music activities in small classes. The Preparatory Choir will also rehearse choral literature together (Levels I & II) and perform locally and with the other Choirs throughout the year.

Cantiamo

Grades 4 and up
Meets: Tuesdays 4:30-5:30
Tuition: $60.00/month
Annual Registration Fee: $25

Cantiamo is a non-auditioned choir for students in grades 4 and up. Weekly rehearsal provides opportunities for learning proper vocal production, increasing music-reading skills, and participating in music activities to enhance choral development. The performance repertoire will include works in various languages, eras of music composition, cultures, and styles. Members of Cantiamo who have been in an ensemble with the choir for one year may audition for the National Choirs of the Organization of American Kodály Educators.

Bel Canto & Bella Voce Combined Choir

Bel Canto 8th-High School by audition & Bella Voce Adult women (no audition required for women)
Meets: Tuesdays Bel Canto 5:45-8:00 and Bella Voce 6:30-8:00
Tuition: Bel Canto $75/month and Bella Voce $65/month
Annual Registration Fee: $25

Rich musical selections will include art music, folk song arrangements from around the world, spirituals, and selections from musicals. Bel Canto and Bella Voce will have various opportunities to perform locally.
