Spring Interviews for 20011-2012 CHOIR Season

Two choirs of the Children’s Choir of Chico are holding interviews for the 2011-12 choir season. Singers in grades 4-12 in Fall 2011 are encouraged to interview for Cantiamo and Bel Canto, the performing and touring choirs of the Children’s Choir of Chico. The choirs perform for various local organizations and events during their singing season August through May.

Members of Cantiamo participate in a 1-day concert tour each spring and Bel Canto is currently planning a longer concert tour for late spring 2012. Some options for this tour include destinations in the continental US, Hawaii, and Eastern Europe. Experience and training are not necessary to join the choirs.

Interviews are being held at at First Christian Church, 295 E. Washington Avenue. Please check back for interview dates. For interview appointments or for information about individual choirs please call (530) 342-2775.

Develop proper breathing techniques Work on correct pronunciation of vowels Practice proper articulation of words Do regular warm-ups to extend vocal range and projection Learn to listen critically to ourselves and to others Explore music literature and music history Study characteristics of various voice types Learn the proper vocabulary of music Practice music reading Learn to function as a member of a group

What makes us happy? Singing! Having people care enough about our choir to come and hear us! Having a willing supply of chauffeurs, chaperones, pizza organizers, cookie bakers and encouragers!
